St Luke & St Andrew's will continue to be open for private prayer during the week, and I am very grateful for those whose help has made this possible.

You will be glad to know that following H.M Govt. and Church of England direction, we are able to open St Luke & St Mary's Church for regular worship again as from Sunday 12th July for one service a week at the usual time of 9.30 am.

It is important to state that although we can meet again for worship, no one should feel compelled or obliged to come to church at this present time. Those who are vulnerable, self-isolating or isolating to protect a family member should in no way feel pressured to make an appearance! We have discussed the measures and procedures necessary for a safe re-opening with the Churchwardens and PCC and church on Sunday will be different in the following ways:

  • A safe distance of 2 metres will apply to those from differing households.
  • Seating will be marked so you will know where to sit and not sit. Please follow directions of sidesperson; you may not be able to sit in your 'normal' seat!
  • Hand sanitisers will be available as you enter and as you leave by the Sanctuary door.
  • There will be no singing, but we will be able to listen to music together.
  • There will be a simple Holy Communion, but this will be 'priest-only' for the time being. We hope guidance on this will change in the near future.
  • Consequently, the service will be shorter than previously.

I hope that as many as wish and are able will attend. You will have the opportunity to meet our new 'curate to be' Julian and his family, who will be assisting me with the service.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Peter Hopwood with any questions, and please remember that it is fully understood that some may not feel they are able to attend as yet.

Yours in the peace of Christ,
