Placemaking Plans

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
B&NES Council is producing a Placemaking Plan, as part of the process of adopting the new national framework for planning recently  introduced by Government.

Priston Parish Council has produced two types of document as our contribution to the Placemaking Plan:
i] Settlement & Landscape Character Assessments:
  • these are used to produce  Snapshot Summaries of the village of Priston, the hamlet of Wilmington and the landscape of the remaining parts of the parish.
  • they form an assessment of Priston parish character and include such topics as topography, scenic qualities, landmarks, land use, ecology, wildlife, views, roads, settlement layouts, building materials etc.
ii] Site Assessments:
  • these identify any appropriate sites for development, primarily housing.
  • No Site Assessments have been drafted for Priston Parish, as no sites appropriate for development have been identified in the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).
  • IF such sites were to be put forward in the future they would have to be assessed using the criteria provided by B&NES and it must be noted that no such site could be put forward unless the landowners have confirmed that they wish the land to be considered for development.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
  • The Settlement & Landscape Character Assessments will become part of the documentation to be considered by B&NES whenever, in future, they are considering planning matters in relation to Priston Parish.
  •  It is therefore important that we are seen to have a view on what we value and what we consider important in relation to these matters.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?:
  • The final versions of the documentation (see links on right of web page) are being submitted to B&NES for the closing date of December 20th 2013.  They will become part of the documentation to be considered by B&NES whenever, in future, they are considering planning matters in relation to Priston Parish.

FINAL VERSIONS Note: No Site Assessments have been drafted for Priston Parish, as no sites appropriate for development have been identified.
